Commercial – Case Study
BlueHornet Networks, Inc. provides innovative permission-based email marketing and loyalty programs to today’s top brands. Headquartered in San Diego, CA, BlueHornet’s offices at the time had no formalized sustainability initiative beyond a few recycling bins. Employees and management were extremely interested in creating a green office, but were faced with the all too common challenges of a leased building, tight budget, and little expertise in “going green”.

Will Gustwiller, owner of Eclipse Chocolat, consulted with the experts at Live & Work Green when expanding his successful wholesale chocolate into San Diego’s premier eco-friendly dessert shop and cafe. Will wanted to be green from the beginning, and employed local craftspeople to build his custom display cases and tables. Store lighting is produced by energy efficient CFL bulbs, high-quality dishware is used for dine-in, biodegradable hot and cold cups for carry-out, and a water saving, dual flush toilet rounds out some of the energy saving features.

My experience working with Live & Work Green on an energy cost savings plan was fantastic! During his walk through of our space, he talks you through all the different ways that you can better save energy, and then helps you make well researched decisions on the best course of action to not only save money, but the impact your decisions will have on the greater environment.
My utility bills have always been rather hefty. Michael from Live & Work Green devised a plan for me to make more efficient use of my energy, and to save me some considerable money in the process. Saving money definitely piqued my interest, and was really the impetus of my making a change. Already I have noticed a decrease in my energy bill and I anticipate more in the coming months as the old meter reads are finished, and I start getting reads with the new energy efficient systems in place.
I definitely recommend Michael’s company for “going green”. He’s definitely very passionate about what you can do as an individual to make a change for the future, and works with you to make the most of your energy saving plan. Also, he’s great about following up to see how things are going, and how the new plan is working out. Going green is a simple, but great opportunity to do a little something extra for the future of our world.
